Mom Week: Mother’s Day DIY Photo Flowers
Introducing my Mother’s Day DIY Photo Flowers! This week on Design Improvised, we are spending each day celebrating mom! I have some fun kids craft projects that are perfect for Mother’s Day, whether they are for mom, grandmas, aunts, or any special woman you want to celebrate on May 12! We’re kicking off the week with these sweet wood photo flowers from Oriental Trading. Stella and Hazel helped me decorate these with a mix of paint, Sharpie markers and jewels, and they turned out so cute!
Easy Mother’s Day DIY
These wood flowers come in a pack of 12, so you can create a whole garden of them for Mother’s Day gifts. I love this glittery tempera paint from Oriental Trading for kids projects. This pack of 8 bottles will last you a long time. We’ve also used them to paint ceramic boxes and wood ornaments. First drawing on the flowers with Sharpies and then painting over them with the tempera paint creates a really pretty effect. We finished them off with some adhesive jewels for a little sparkle.
For the photo, you need a pretty small picture, so I ended up cutting the girls’ faces out of a 4”x6” print. You can also adjust the size of a digital photo and print it out on your home printer.
Free Printable DIY Mother’s Day Tags
To finish off your flowers, you can download a sweet printable tag that says “Mom, thanks for helping me grow.” These tags would be a cute accompaniment to any Mother’s Day gift. You can download them here for free. I love having a couple of these flowers in my office! Come back tomorrow for another Mom Week project. In the meantime, check out these other easy Mother’s Day craft ideas!
