Guest Room Ideas

Tuesday was all about the master bedroom, today it’s all about the guest room! This weekend we are hosting our second set of guests since we’ve moved to San Antonio. It sure is nice to have a guest room, even one that is unfinished! Right now there is just a bed and a clean bathroom, but I can’t wait for it to be so much more.
I started saving some inspiration images from Better Homes and Gardens to a Pinterest board awhile back and I thought I would share a few with you:

I envision a room inspired by nature with some fun colorful prints mixed in. I want to use a color palette of fresh green, blue, and yellow and incorporate a few botanical elements and DIY touches.

While I’m looking for a little more color than this room below, I love the use of natural textures like the woven grass shades and basket. And how great are those two large bird prints?

I have a couple flea market finds that have just been waiting for a home, like my butterfly specimens similar to these:

And some vintage bird and butterfly prints I’ve collected like these:

I hope to find time to decorate the room over the next month, but in the meantime here is a sneak peek of the room we started with:

It has already changed considerably from these photos since we’ve put in hardwood floors, painted the (green!) ceiling white, and swapped out the chandelier for a modern ceiling fan. In case you are wondering, we did hold on to the chandelier and have some fun plans for it elsewhere in the home – stay tuned!
