National Craft Month – March 2020
Did you know that March is National Craft Month? That means 31 whole days dedicated to the thing you and I love most of all! Even though National Craft Month has been around since 1994, this is the first time we are officially celebrating it on Design Improvised. Better late than never, right?
The Craft and Hobbies Association established National Craft Month back in 1994 as a way to celebrate all things crafting, and to encourage people to roll up their sleeves and get to making things. I hope you make March the month you pull out an old craft project that you never got around to finishing, sign up for a craft class to try a new technique, or just head to your local craft store and stroll the aisles looking for inspiration. That’s definitely one of my favorite activities!
A Month of Crafting on Design Improvised
On Design Improvised we’re celebrating with a month packed with craft ideas featuring some of my favorite supplies, from pom-poms and balloons to ribbons and rickrack. I’m planning a mix of brand new projects and roundups of some of my favorite craft inspiration around the web. Here’s what you can expect:
Week 1 (Mar 2-8): Pom Pom and Butterfly Crafts
Of course we’re going to kick off the month with my favorite craft supply of all – pom-poms! I have a brand new pom-pom project coming to you this week along with a round-up of my favorite ways to incorporate pom-poms into your home decor. Since spring is almost here, we’re finishing up the week with some butterfly craft ideas for adults. Can’t wait for pom-pom inspiration? Check out all my past pom-pom crafts!
Week 2 (Mar 9-15): Balloon Crafts
Who wants plain balloons when you can bedazzle balloons in so many ways? These pom-pom balloons I made back in 2013 started an obsession with finding simple ways to decorate balloons. It is one of my favorite crafting challenges! I now have over 20 balloon craft ideas, and I’ve got another one coming to you in Week 2.
Week 3 (Mar 16-22): Easter Crafts
Easter will be here in a matter of weeks, and we’re dedicating Week 3 of National Craft Month to Easter crafting and decorating. If you want to get a head start on your Easter crafting, check out my Easter ideas here!
Week 4 (Mar 23-29): Ribbon Crafts
Think ribbons, rick rack, and pom-pom trim. I have a fun spring crafting coming in Week 4 involving lots of colorful ribbons. Stay tuned!
I hope you are as excited about National Craft Month as I am!
