Top 10 DIY Valentine Box Ideas for School
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and I’ve rounded up 10 of the cutest DIY Valentine box ideas I’ve found on the web. I’ve included a few Design Improvised creations as well for a bit of shameless self-promotion! My latest craft is this sparkly flip sequin Valentine box that I recently made for Oriental Trading’s Fun365.com. My daughters are already fighting over who gets to take it to school. 🙂
DIY Valentine Boxes for School
I remember how much I loved decorating my own Valentine box for school as a kid, and my daughters are no different. These DIY Valentine boxes are easy enough for elementary school kids to do with a little adult assistance. I’ve included a range of ideas that use the standard shoebox, to an oatmeal container, to pieces of cardboard. Gather up your supplies and have fun improvising on these ideas with your child!
1. Harry Potter Valentine Box via Fun Money Mom
My Harry Potter obsessed 10 year old would love this valentine box. It is as simple as covering a shoebox with construction paper and using a little creativity for his features. Tutorial here.

I mean how precious is this? This is especially cute for younger school children. Transform a cylinder oatmeal container into the cutest bee with construction paper stripes and doilies for the wings. Tutorial here.

This extra-large Valentine box uses the oh-so-trendy flip sequin fabric along with flip sequin heart patches. Expect lots of friends to want to touch it at school! Tutorial here.
7. Shark Valentine Box via The Crafting Chicks for Fun365.com
As a mom to girls, the school Valentine box ideas that caught my eye tended to be more girly, but this shark one is a fun one for girls and boys! I love that his big mouth opens up to eat all the Valentine cards. Cover a square box with blue paper and add fins. Tutorial here.
8. Floral Valentine Mailbox via Design Improvised
I’m going to be honest, I made this one for myself. 🙂 Kids aren’t the only ones who should have fun making a Valentine card box, right? I loved turning a paper mache mailbox into a floral covered beauty! Tutorial here.
9. Rainbow Valentine Box via Giggles Galore for Fun365.com
What a fun and easy project for your child. Start by covering a shoebox with light blue paper. Then paint a colorful rainbow and add heart stickers and letter stickers for their name. Tutorial here.
10. Post Office Mailbox via Lily Ardor
This last idea is the most time intensive of the ideas, but it was too cool not to share! If you child loves to build things then this Valentine’s day project is for you. Use sheets of cardboard to create this realistic blue USPS mailbox to hold all your Valentines. It even includes the cute “Cupid’s Post Office” printable. Tutorial here.
