Here’s something you may not know about me – I love to garden. By gardening I mean spending way too much money on flowers every spring, planting them in pots around my yard, and then spending the next several months desperately trying to keep them alive in the Texas heat! Nonetheless, I love spending time outdoors with my plants, so I’m excited to be partnering with Mrs. Meyer’s® brand to share a simple garden-inspired gift basket idea featuring Mrs. Meyer’s® Lavender Body Wash. Lavender is my all-time favorite scent, and it is easy to grow too!
Garden Gift Basket for Hostess Gift
I love gifting a basket of different items within the same theme. Just the act of displaying them in a basket makes them feel extra special. This simple garden-inspired gift basket is the perfect hostess gift if you have plans to visit friends or family this summer. I know it is a gift I would love to receive and I bet any other gardener (or wanna-be gardener) would too!
Getting your hands dirty is inevitable when it comes to gardening, but that is part of the fun! I like to wear a pair of garden gloves when I’m potting new plants, so for this gift basket, I included a pretty pair of leather garden gloves along with a shower pouf and Mrs. Meyer’s® Lavender Body Wash.
I have been a long time fan of Mrs. Meyer’s® brand products and their garden-inspired scents. They are formulated with essential oils and plant-derived ingredients, making them the perfect gifts. Their line of body wash and bar soap includes basil and honeysuckle scents as well. Any gardener would appreciate a garden-fresh scent to lather up with after a day spent working outdoors! In addition, a gardener always loves a new plant to try out. I added a small pot of lavender which smells amazing and is very easy to grow.

How to Assemble a Garden Gift Basket
1. Start with a nice basket
New baskets can be expensive, but I love to collect pretty baskets from my local Goodwill (you can find a wide selection of them for $1-$2 a piece) and keep them on hand to use as needed. To create my basket I first lined it with a piece of burlap to give it a rustic look.
2. Add a potted plant
Here’s a little trick when gifting a potted plant from the nursery – wrap it with a scrap of burlap or fabric and tie with a pretty ribbon. Just cut a square large enough to reach up the sides of the pot, and then wrap around the pot, pleating the fabric as you go. Hold it in place with a ribbon tied around the middle. Instant chic!
3. Layer in the other gift items
Nestle the potted plant and the other items in the basket and your gift is complete! Other potential items to add to your garden gift basket include:
- Seed packets or seed balls
- Flower bulbs
- Small gardening tools (e.g., trowel, cultivator, pruners)
- Garden markers
- Small watering can
- Pretty flower pot
- Gardening books or magazines
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray
- Mrs. Meyer’s® brand personal care products (including lotion, bar soap, and body wash in garden-inspired scents lavender, basil, and honeysuckle)
