My Top 10 DIY Projects of 2012

2012 marked my second year of blogging at Design Improvised. The biggest difference from 2011? I actually had readers this year! Here are my readers’ favorite projects of 2012 – based on total page views.

1. Crepe Paper Flower Tutorial
Who knew these paper flowers I made for Stella’s ballerina party would be my most viewed project of 2012? They were time consuming, but so much fun to make and now make a pretty addition to her bedroom.

2. How to Make Paper Pinwheels – The Easy Way
The second most popular was another labor of love for Hazel’s 1st birthday sunshine party – a wall full of these paper pinwheels. I learned several shortcuts and tricks that I shared in my tutorial.

3. Bow Wreath
Lots of bang for your buck with this simple project. It may well stay on my door through January. 😉

This is the party that kicked off our monthly Design Improvised DIY Nights back in April. We’ve held one every month since then and we’ve made some really cool stuff!
Creating room designs for clients is one of my favorite things to do. I especially love designing kids rooms and had a lot of fun with this modern boy/girl twins nursery design.
Setting up this tray with some scotches and vintage barware was a surprise birthday for my husband this past April. Needless to say, it has gotten a lot of use. 😉
I was inspired to do this spray painted rug after using a similar technique with spray paint and masking tape to make chevron doormats. It definitely added a bold pop of color to our roof deck this summer.
Creating this big girl room for my daughter was my personal favorite project of the year. There have been some big changes since we moved her into the room in May – it has now become a shared bedroom with her younger sister. We moved them into the same room to make way for a playroom. Lots more on that to come this month!
This was a super simple holiday craft from our November DIY Night.
Rounding up the top 10 was another super easy DIY Night craft. I loved how these vases turned out so much, I made another round for my Christmas mantel
