Yarn-Wrapped DIY Slap Bracelets
DIY Slap Bracelets with Yarn
Introducing my DIY slap bracelets wrapped with yarn! Remember the slap bracelet craze from the 1980s? I certainly remember thinking they were so cool as a kid. Well, I’m happy to report that slap bracelets are back! My daughters have several of them in their collection – including a slap bracelet that unrolls into a ruler and one covered in flip sequins (another oh-so-hot trend). However, they had never made their own slap bracelets until I found these plain white silicone slap bracelets from Oriental Trading and we tried wrapping them with yarn. The results turned out so darn cute that I am tempted to wear them myself!
If you’re looking for an idea to keep kids busy this is the project for you. The slap bracelets look even cooler when you wear a bunch of them at once! The options are endless for different designs you can make on the bracelets. Use separate colors of yarn for different sections of the bracelet, or wrap the bracelet with two colors of yarn at once. We also tried wrapping a bracelet with a single color of yarn and then crisscrossing a different color of yarn over the top. I was happy to discover that the bracelet will still “slap” easily, even with the addition of the yarn.
For this simple project, just set out the white silicone slap bracelets, various colors of yarn, and a pair of scissors and get to crafting! You can find a supply list and step-by-step instructions here.
