Step 1:
Use a file organizer as a quick way to categorize incoming paperwork and prevent it from piling up on the counter.
Make a folder for:
* Mail and bills to address * Receipts * Coupons and gift cards * Tax documents * School work * Any other important categories for you
Step 2:
Store mementos (kids art, photos, awards, school programs, etc.) in a pretty fabric covered boxes. One box can hold several years worth of mementos!
Step 3:
You can also use three-ring binders and clear sheet protectors to organize paperwork. Just slot them into the sheet protectors!
Step 4:
Keep pens and scissors handy in pretty containers (these are dollar store pots)
Step 5:
Go through your paper work files 1-2 times a year and throw out what is no longer needed.
