DIY Project: Chic Toy Storage

October 20, 2011 | FILED UNDER: Uncategorized

After finishing off these delicious pretzel sticks awhile back I almost threw away the jar until it occurred to me that it would make a nice storage container to reign in some of my daughter’s toys. It is pretty good sized and made of sturdy plastic:

So I gathered up a sheet of pretty printed wrapping paper (Snow and Graham and Paper Source have great options for $2-$3 a sheet) and some spray adhesive:

I cut out a piece of pretty paper big enough to cover the pretzel logo and wrap around the jar, and then I sprayed the back of it with spray adhesive and pressed it on, smoothing out any wrinkles as I went along.

Because I am never one to “measure twice, cut once” my piece of paper didn’t line up perfectly after being wrapped around, so I got out some ric rac and glued it around the edges with a glue gun, which covered up the uneven edges nicely and added another decorative touch:

I cut out a circle of paper to cover the lid and used spray adhesive to glue that on as well. ย In under 10 minutes the pretzel container had taken on a whole new life. Now I’m really tempted to go buy some more pretzels so I can have a whole set of chic toy bins. ๐Ÿ˜‰
