So back to the plant table idea… here is what I currently have going at my house. I’ve turned the top of a buffet in our dining room into a makeshift plant table. The south facing window provides just enough sunshine during the winter time:
The plant table is an ongoing work in progress, and the plants change pretty regularly depending on what I can keep alive! I’ve had pretty good success with succulents because you only have to water them every 2-3 weeks, and if you forget, they are very forgiving. I’ve tried using different containers and cake stands to vary the height of the plants.
The flowering plant in the middle of the picture were some paperwhite bulbs that I bought on clearance at Target for a few bucks. They looked beautiful, but I eventually had to move them out of the house because Ross was too turned off by the smell! They have a strong perfume that reminded me of lilies, but reminded Ross of a ‘dirty bum’
This is my catch-all succulent planter. I had it outside over the summer as it can take a lot of sun and heat, and moved it in once the temps started getting cold. I found that when you move it back outside after the winter you have to ‘break it in’ by leaving it outside for a half day at a time and then bringing it back in, otherwise it can shock the plants and the leaves burn from the sun:
